Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Book Week
Book Week 2026 at North Star Public School was centred around this year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories.” The event brought our school community together to celebrate the magic, creativity and imagination that books and stories inspire in children of all ages. This year, we were delighted to combine our Book Week celebrations with Education Week, creating a wonderful opportunity to showcase student learning while highlighting the important role that reading, storytelling and education play in shaping confident, curious and creative learners. Our students embraced the theme with great enthusiasm, exploring a wonderful variety of stories and characters. A particularly special part of the celebration was welcoming our parents, families and members of the wider community into our school, allowing everyone to share in the experiences and see the wonderful learning taking place across North Star Public School.
Education Week
Education Week 2026 in New South Wales was celebrated from August 3-7 2026, under the theme " Inspiring Excellence". The week was dedicated to celebrating the strength and achievements of public education. North Star Public School invited parents to visit classrooms and through our School Bulletin and a special assembly we celebrated the unique strengths and talents of our students. Recognising each child’s individual abilities whether in the classroom, on the sports field, through creativity, or in leadership—helps build confidence and a love of learning. At North Star Public School, we value the diverse skills our students bring and take pride in supporting them to reach their full potential.
State Swimming Carnival
At the State Swimming Championships on Tuesday, 28 May, we were proud to see our students achieve a fantastic bronze medal in the Earl McGee Relay which is for small schools with a total enrolment of up to 25 students. This is an outstanding achievement, especially as they cut 16 seconds off their Armidale to Sydney time. Congratulations Ella, Ava, Bill and Sam. We also congratulate Stella on her performance in the 8 year girls 50m freestyle swim. Well done Stella!
“Parents ask me what it is like to have our children at a small school, my answer is always the same. It is like you are part of a big family. North Star Public School is somewhere your kids can learn in a warm and nurturing environment and it is the lifeblood of our small rural community.” Camilla Doolin P&C President North Star Public School
